SmartScraping is an independently operated software service. This Privacy Policy explains how SmartScraping collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit the website, create an account, use the dashboard, or use the scraping API.
We may collect information you provide, including your email address, name, profile picture, authentication details, account preferences, support messages, and other information you choose to submit. When you use the scraping service, we may process API keys, requested URLs, extraction schemas, usage information, request metadata, and the resulting data needed to provide and secure the service. API keys are stored in protected form where applicable and should never be shared with other people.
We may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, authentication cookies, approximate usage times, referring pages, error information, and security or rate-limit events. We may also store limited data in browser or server-side storage to keep the application working and preserve session or usage state.
We use information to create and authenticate accounts, provide scraping and structured data extraction, validate requests, enforce plan limits and rate limits, generate and manage API keys, measure usage, process payments, send transactional emails, respond to requests, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and improve the service. We do not sell personal information.
When you submit a URL and schema, SmartScraping may retrieve publicly accessible content from that URL using HTTP requests or a browser automation provider. The retrieved content, your schema, and the URL may be processed by an artificial intelligence provider to produce structured results. Do not submit passwords, private account content, payment card data, health information, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information unless you have a lawful basis and have assessed the risks. You are responsible for ensuring that your requests and submitted content comply with applicable law and the rights of others.
We use third-party providers to operate SmartScraping. These may include Supabase for authentication and database services, Stripe for billing and payment processing, Resend for transactional email delivery, Groq or another configured AI provider for data processing, Browserless or similar infrastructure for browser automation, hosting and infrastructure providers, and monitoring or security providers. These providers may process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored directly by SmartScraping.
SmartScraping uses authentication cookies and similar storage technologies that are necessary to maintain sessions, protect accounts, and operate the dashboard and API. We may also use limited technical storage for application functionality and caching. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling necessary cookies may prevent sign-in or other features from working. We do not use cookies for selling personal information.
Where required by applicable law, we process personal information based on the performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, your consent, or compliance with legal obligations. We may disclose information to service providers, professional advisers, authorities when legally required, or a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect SmartScraping, its users, the public, or the security of the service.
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain business and security records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with law, and prevent abuse. Retention periods may vary by data type and provider. Cached content, logs, usage records, and backups may remain for a limited period after deletion or account closure. You may request account deletion through the available account controls or the contact method published on the website. Deletion may not remove information that we must retain by law or that remains in secure backups until normal expiration.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and protected service integrations. No internet transmission, storage system, or service operated by a single independent operator can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your password and API keys and for notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized access.
SmartScraping and its providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data protection rules. Where required, we will use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers. By using the service, you acknowledge that such transfers may occur as necessary to provide the service.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your personal information, object to certain processing, request portability, or withdraw consent. You may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. Requests should be sent through the contact method published on the SmartScraping website. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may deny or limit a request where permitted by law.
SmartScraping is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can review and remove it where appropriate.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Continued use of SmartScraping after an update means that you acknowledge the revised policy. SmartScraping is operated by a single independent operator, so support and privacy requests may not receive an immediate response. Questions or requests should be sent through the contact method published on the SmartScraping website.
